Apple Valley and Barstow squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Apple Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Aztecs by a score of 10-7. The Sun Devils' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Brent Lanning threw for 189 yards on 18 of 38 attempts. Dominic Meras was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards. On the ground, Jacob Cabrera rushed for 42 yards and one touchdown.

Jarvis (JJ) Applewhite was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 112 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 33 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August. Barstow also got a significant boost from Nicholas Gaoa, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.

Apple Valley's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Barstow, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Apple Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Barstow, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Immanuel at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Aztecs 12.8, the Eagles 5.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
