Baseball Recap: Ballard Victorious

Ballard came out on top against Garfield on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Beavers took their game against the Bulldogs 8-3. The victory continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Hiroto Kadobayashi looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Ballard is 3-1 when Kadobayashi allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miles Soja, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Ballard: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wes Manger, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Ballard's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Garfield, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Ballard is taking a road trip to square off against Chief Sealth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Garfield, they will welcome Nathan Hale at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
