Basketball Recap: Western Reserve Comes Up Short

If Western Reserve was feeling good fresh off their 60-34 takedown of Jackson-Milton last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Western Reserve Blue Devils took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Tigers on Saturday. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Springfield had a senior duo take command as Mariana Tuscano went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points and four steals and Jameka Brungard dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. The match was Brungard's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Karigan Mullen was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Western Reserve's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Springfield, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.

Western Reserve didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-16 win against Memorial on the 27th. As for Springfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-41 victory against Lowellville on the 28th.
