Baseball Game Preview: Searcy Lions vs. Gosnell Pirates

The Searcy Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Gosnell Pirates at 11:15 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Searcy 2.8, Gosnell 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Searcy blew Warren out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Warren got their revenge. Searcy fell just short of Warren by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since March 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, Gosnell came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Panthers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since May 2, 2024.

Gosnell's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Searcy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Searcy took their win against Gosnell when the teams last played back in March of 2015 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Searcy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
