Football Recap: Wayne Cunningham Leads Clearwater's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Clearwater lost to Wiregrass Ranch back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Tornadoes walked away with a 28-16 win over the Bulls. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tornadoes.

Jaylen White went supernova, rushing for 122 yards and one TD while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. Isaiah Berrien also helped with two scores in total.

Another reason for the win was Clearwater's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Wayne Cunningham with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Maurice Bryant was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Clearwater's record is now 2-0. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clearwater will head out to take on Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will venture away from home to challenge Zephyrhills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
