Baseball Game Preview: Monticello Mustangs vs. Waynesboro Little Giants

The Monticello Mustangs are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the Waynesboro Little Giants at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Monticello came up short against James River Midlothian and fell 11-6. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gavin Halliday was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Waynesboro lost 20-3 to Fluvanna County on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Little Giants in their meetings with the Flying Flucos: they've now lost three in a row.

Waynesboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Rankin, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Monticello now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Waynesboro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Monticello couldn't quite get it done against Waynesboro when the teams last played on Tuesday as they fell 8-4. Can Monticello avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
