Baseball Recap: Lehi Takes a Loss

Lehi had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 11-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Pleasant Grove Vikings by a score of 5-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Brandon Manookin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Pleasant Grove, their record now sits at 17-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Lehi since April 5, 2017.

On Pleasant Grove's side, Keaton Nordick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Nordick has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on R.J. Wilson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Drew Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

While Lehi had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
