It was a proper cat-fight when Santa Maria duked it out with La Villa on Saturday. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Cardinals. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won seven in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Santa Maria who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 23-25, 15-10.

Santa Maria's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for La Villa, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
