Baseball Game Preview: Rio Linda Knights vs. Casa Roble Rams

For the second straight game, Rio Linda will face off against Casa Roble. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rio Linda's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Casa Roble's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Rio Linda fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Casa Roble on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-4. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Knights, who fell 4-2 when the teams last met back in May of 2024.

For Casa Roble's part, they got a great performance from Aidan Lopez as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave Lopez a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Easton Funk, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Marasso, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Casa Roble kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Casa Roble has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Rio Linda, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rio Linda has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Casa Roble struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
