Basketball Recap: Plainfield Snaps 12-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Plainfield dropped to 8-3 on Tuesday, ending the team's 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 52-44 to the Center Grove Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Quakers of the 58-48 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Hannah Menser and Berkeley Williams certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Menser posted 21 points, while Williams put up 12 points. Menser continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Abrielle Dugan was another key player, putting up nine points.

As for Center Grove, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 54.1 points this season.

Gracyn Gilliard was her usual excellent self, shooting 54% from the field en route to 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Center Grove's points. Another player making a difference was Lillia Tapak, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Plainfield will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Martinsville at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. As for Center Grove, they will face off against Bloomington South at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
