Basketball Recap: Summit Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Summit Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators an easy 38-15 victory. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Greenbrier Christian Academy was led to victory by Katelyn Balka and Bayleigh Kaliher. Balka almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards, while Kaliher posted six points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those 18 points gave Balka a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Livia Smith, who put up four points and four steals.

Summit Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Summit Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Portsmouth Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Suffolk Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Suffolk Christian Academy: 29.4, Greenbrier Christian Academy: 22) so any points scored will be well earned.
