Basketball Recap: Derby Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Derby gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-44 win over the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes.

Leading Derby to victory were Aysia Fox and Macayla Askew. Fox shot 71% from the field on her way to 25 points and three steals, while Askew dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten steals. Those 25 points gave Fox a new career-high. Siaunna Carter was another key player, putting up three points and five steals.

The loss snapped Sunrise Christian Academy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Looking ahead, Derby will take on Andover in a tournament on Friday. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Carthage at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
