Basketball Game Preview: Greenwood Bulldogs vs. Caledonia Cavaliers

After both having extra time off, the Greenwood Bulldogs and the Caledonia Cavaliers will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Greenwood has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Caledonia will arrive with five straight wins.

Last Friday, Greenwood was beaten by Kosciusko 55-13. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Whippets are ranked 55th).

Meanwhile, Caledonia was able to grind out a solid victory over West Lowndes last Friday, taking the game 41-32.

Caledonia pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Greenwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Greenwood was dealt a bruising 73-14 loss at the hands of Caledonia in their previous meeting back in January. Can Greenwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
