Baseball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Gunnison Valley's Winning Streak

Gunnison Valley and Enterprise squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Gunnison Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Braxton Pickett put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Pickett wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Jensen, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Gunnison Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Enterprise, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Gunnison Valley has already played their next match, a 6-3 victory against Millard on the 6th. As for Enterprise, they will square off against Beaver at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolves 2.4, the Beavers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
