Softball Recap: Mount Airy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mount Airy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Elkin Buckin' Elks 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 last Wednesday.

Ella Brintle was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Greer Tidd was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mount Airy's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Elkin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Mount Airy will head out on the road to challenge Alleghany at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Granite Bears are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 17-game losing streak. As for Elkin, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against North Wilkes at 6:00 p.m.
