Baseball Recap: Columbus North Takes a Loss

Columbus North extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-15 in the process. They came up short against the Fishers Tigers, falling 6-0. The Bull Dogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Fishers, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

For Fishers' part, not much got past Austin Conley, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Columbus North off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Conley.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Huston Dunn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Zander Carnahan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus North will take on Avon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bull Dogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Orioles have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Fishers, they will face off against Brownsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
