Baseball Game Preview: Bethel-Tate Tigers vs. Reading Blue Devils

The Bethel-Tate Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Reading Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Reading took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bethel-Tate, who comes in off a win.

Bethel-Tate was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Georgetown on Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the G-Men with a sharp 8-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the G-Men: they've now won four in a row.

Jack Ladd made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Ladd was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Ladd wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Moss, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Moss has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaden Mersman also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Reading's offense. They came up short against Indian Hill on Wednesday, falling 10-0. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Bethel-Tate's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Reading, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Bethel-Tate took their victory against Reading when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
