Belleview Christian struggled with threes on Thursday (Pikes Peak Christian had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Belleview Christian took a 40-24 bruising from Pikes Peak Christian.
Despite the loss, Belleview Christian saw an underclassman step up: Harjas Thiara scored 16 points along with five steals. Thiara hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Samantha Ortega was another key contributor, scoring no points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Belleview Christian's lineup was just a bit different on Thursday as Emily Taylor got a bit more time on the court (15 vs. her season average of 7.56). Taylor made the most of the opportunity, scoring two points along with seven rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, Non Varsity Opponent came up short against Birchwood Christian on Thursday and fell 36-28.
Belleview Christian's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Non Varsity Opponent, their loss dropped their record down to 114-216.
Everything came up roses for Belleview Christian against Non Varsity Opponent in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 as the squad secured a 43-9 win.
