Basketball Game Preview: Mercer Cardinals vs. Gilman City Hawks

Mercer has gone 9-1 against Gilman City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mercer Cardinals will take on the Gilman City Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mercer sitting on five straight victories and Gilman City on nine.

Last Friday, Mercer beat Tri-County 33-26.

Meanwhile, Gilman City was able to grind out a solid win over Grundy County/Newtown-Harris on Friday, taking the game 47-35.

Mercer's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Gilman City, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Mercer came up short against Gilman City when the teams last played back in January, falling 36-24. Can Mercer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
