Volleyball Recap: Fruitport Trojans vs. Spring Lake Lakers
Fruitport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Spring Lake Lakers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Lane Raap paced Fruitport's offense, picking up six kills. Raap also shared the team's lead in assists with Ed Bouchard: they picked up four each. Tanner Cappema controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Fruitport's loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Fruitport didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against West Ottawa on the 16th. As for Spring Lake, they will head out to challenge Mona Shores at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
