Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Unity Christian Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were outmatched by the Terra Ceia Christian Knights and fell 66-28. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jake Whitehurst, who posted 13 points and three steals. Mason Paul also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

As for Terra Ceia Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points over those games.

Terra Ceia Christian had a senior duo take command as Seth Meijer dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds and Ryan Ange shot 5-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Ange also set a new season-high mark in three-point shooting accuracy with 63%. Aidan Persons was another key player, putting up seven points and seven boards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unity Christian Academy will face off against Gramercy Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Terra Ceia Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
