Baseball Recap: Brooke's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Brooke lost a heartbreaker the last time they played East Liverpool, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Bruins beat the Potters on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Considering the Bruins have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Henry Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Zac O'Mery was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Brooke: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Ty Sperringer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Brooke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win was the third in a row for Brooke, bringing their record up to 12-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Liverpool, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Brooke has already played their next game (against Martins Ferry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for East Liverpool, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Buckeye Local on the 19th.
