Baseball Game Preview: Placer Hillmen vs. Frontier Titans

The Placer Hillmen will take on the Frontier Titans in a tournament on Tuesday. Placer's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Frontier's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Placer's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Chowchilla hitters got past them. The Hillmen fell 10-6 to the Tribe on Monday.

Placer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Otis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Frontier entered their tilt with El Camino Real on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Royals. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by just one run.

Mac Corpas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Frontier is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cameron Clay was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Johnny Archuleta was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Placer's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Frontier, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
