Softball Game Preview: Victoria West Warriors vs. Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos

The Victoria West Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Victoria West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Victoria West is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since March 28, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-15 win over Terry. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Elaiyna Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Karstyn Cann was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Kendall Marshall was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Victoria West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Marshall fell victim to Victoria East and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 17-0. The Buffalos just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.
