Basketball Recap: DSST: Green Valley Ranch Starts Season with Loss at Home

DSST: Green Valley Ranch unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt an 80-39 defeat at the hands of the Northfield Nighthawks on Tuesday. The Raptors lost against the Nighthawks in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 65-55 score last time.

Despite the loss, DSST: Green Valley Ranch saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ismael Bakayoko posted six points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Wright, who put up seven points.

Northfield was led to victory by Bahati Langford and Judah Michael. Langford had 18 points, while Michael scored 17 points. Evo Montoya was another key player, putting up ten points.

Looking ahead, DSST: Green Valley Ranch will take on Rifle in a tournament on Thursday. As for Northfield, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m.
