Softball Recap: Kennett Indians vs. Dexter Bearcats

Kennett put the finishing touches on their 16th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Dexter Bearcats a 15-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but Kennett sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Handley McAtee made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. McAtee has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. McAtee was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Kennett got a big performance out of Emma Bodkin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Lauren Barton was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Kennett has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Dexter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
