Softball Recap: Shorecrest Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Shorecrest's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Lynnwood Royals as they made off with a 19-3 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Scots as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Claire Maxwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Gurnee, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Lilia Pomaika'I Pua Titiali'I-McKinn was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs and one double.

Shorecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Shorecrest's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Lynnwood, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shorecrest will face off against Glacier Peak at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lynnwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shorewood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Royals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stormrays have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
