Softball Recap: Firebaugh Takes a Loss

Firebaugh extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 4-21. They came up short against the Caruthers Blue Raiders, falling 14-0. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Blue Raiders from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Caruthers, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

For Caruthers' part, Makena Salumbides was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave Salumbides a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emmi Almeida, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

Firebaugh wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Mendota on the 12th. As for Caruthers, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-2 loss against Liberty on the 12th.
