Baseball Recap: Westview Takes a Loss

Westview dropped down to 5-10 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 20-4 to the Goshen RedHawks. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the RedHawks since Saturday.

Westview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Swanson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

As for Goshen, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

On Goshen's side, Braxton Cline was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those four runs gave Cline a new career-high. Jensen Meikle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Looking ahead, Westview will face off against Angola at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goshen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mishawaka at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the RedHawks 3.7, the Cavemen 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
