Softball Recap: Canby Beats Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts for Their 13th Straight Win

Canby waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They blew past the Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Mustangs 20-3. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Madi Bigej was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mollie Kivett, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Canby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Canby's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-17.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Canby is set to square off against their familiar foe Wilsonville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.3, the Wildcats 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts will take on rival Putnam at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
