Softball Recap: Penns Grove Drops Highest Score of Season Against LEAP Academy

Penns Grove extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 28-8 to the LEAP Academy Lancers. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Red Devils' highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for LEAP Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

For LEAP Academy's part, the team relied heavily on L Montanez, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Montanez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Y Robinson was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Penns Grove will take on Glassboro at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for LEAP Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
