Softball Game Preview: First Academy Eagles vs. Leesburg Yellow Jackets

First Academy hasn't had much luck against Leesburg recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Leesburg will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: First Academy extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on Eastside with a sharp 26-14 victory. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Leesburg made easy work of Discovery on Tuesday and carried off a 21-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.

First Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Leesburg, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. First Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Leesburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

First Academy might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Leesburg in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
