Baseball Recap: Auburn Gets the Win

Auburn lost to Raymond Central back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Christian Gage made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Gage wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clayton Brown, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Another was Griffin Sikora, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Auburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win got Auburn back to even at 5-5. As for Raymond Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Auburn has already played their next contest, a 10-3 victory against Falls City on the 8th. As for Raymond Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-5 defeat against Central City/Centura on the 8th.
