Basketball Recap: Taylor Zwickey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brookstone over Spencer

Brookstone dropped down to 4-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. The game between the Cougars and the Spencer Greenwave didn't end well, with the Cougars falling 54-38. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greenwave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-37 back in November.

Brookstone's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Zwickey, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Julie Anne Pyle, who put up nine points.

As for Spencer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

Karma Rosser was a one-woman wrecking crew as she went 7-for-17 to rack up 17 points and seven steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamani Lewis, who earned eight points and four steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookstone will challenge Lee-Scott Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Pyle and Clarke Ivatt. As for Spencer, they will face off against Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
