Midway has gone a perfect 6-0 against Shoemaker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will square off against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m.
Midway is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Harker Heights on Friday. The Panthers fell just short of the Knights by a score of 24-21. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite their defeat, Midway saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lathan Whisenton, who rushed for 79 yards and two TDs, was perhaps the best of all. Whisenton is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew McNair, who threw for 127 yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, Shoemaker is still undefeated this season after their contest against Temple on Friday, but Temple came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since September 6, 2024.
Midway better keep an eye on Brandon Brown Jr. He was instrumental in Shoemaker's win, rushing for 122 yards and three scores on only 14 carries, while also picking up 38 receiving yards. Jamal Polite Jr did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 90 receiving yards.
Shoemaker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 192 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Shoemaker's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Midway, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Midway has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 236.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Shoemaker struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 282 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Midway's way against Shoemaker when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Midway made off with a 27-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
