Softball Recap: Amphitheater Comes Up Short

Amphitheater couldn't beat Rio Rico on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Panthers came up short against the Hawks, falling 17-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 on Monday.

Isabella Espinoza was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Talisa Yrigolla, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Amphitheater and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Rio Rico, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Amphitheater didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 loss against Empire on the 8th. As for Rio Rico, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 22-6 defeat against Mica Mountain on the 2nd.
