Game recap: Mendenhall High School Football Team defeats Magee

MAGEE, Miss. - Mendenhall (Miss.) jumped out to an early lead against Magee (Miss.) and never looked back on the way to a 35-16 victory on Saturday.

The Tigers scored 14 points in the first quarter. Mendenhall scored on a touchdown run by Khadarel Hodge and a rushing touchdown.

The Tigers were up 28-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Hodge in the first quarter.

Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 21 entering the fourth.

Hodge played well for Mendenhall in the victory. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 24 touchdowns on the season.

Marquez McNair played well for the Trojans. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.



Coming into the game the Tigers had allowed 20.3 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Magee well below its season average of 24.8 points scored per game.

A 26-14 Mendenhall victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

With the win Mendenhall extended its winning streak to three games.
