It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Clay had no problem doing just that on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Escambia Gators 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Clay got a great performance from Rylan McMahan as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave McMahan a new career-high.

At the plate, LJ Martin was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Clay pushed their record up to 21-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Escambia, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 12 games and leaves them with a 23-6 record.

Clay will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Gators: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
