Baseball Recap: Bishop Machebeuf Sets Scoring Season-High Against Denver West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Machebeuf). Everything went their way against the Denver West Cowboys on Wednesday as they made off with a 23-3 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Buffaloes with their most commanding win of the season.

Gabo Corral looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Bishop Machebeuf got a massive performance out of Isaac Papineau, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Papineau has become a key player for the Buffaloes: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of John Menke, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Bishop Machebeuf hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.

Bishop Machebeuf now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Denver West, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Bishop Machebeuf and Denver West will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Buffaloes are set to take on their familiar foe Estes Park at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Denver West will face off against rival Bruce Randolph at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
