Softball Recap: Jefferson's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

There's no place like home for Jefferson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 24-19 win over the Decatur Golden Gators on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jefferson let Jordan Lange and Lyla Smith run wild. Lange went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Smith got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katarah Lli, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Jefferson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Decatur, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-7.

Coming up, Jefferson will venture away from home to challenge Kent-Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Decatur, they will welcome Federal Way at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.53 runs per game on average), something the Golden Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
