Softball Recap: Palo Verde Valley Has No Trouble Against Holtville

Palo Verde Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Holtville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Palo Verde Valley put the hurt on Holtville with a sharp 15-4 victory on Friday. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.

Yasleen Reyes made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Reyes was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Salazar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jillian Flores was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Palo Verde Valley's record is now 6-4. As for Holtville, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Palo Verde Valley will host Imperial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Imperial will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Palo Verde Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
