Basketball Recap: Kankakee Takes a Loss

If Kankakee was riding high fresh off their 77-32 takedown of Thornridge last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The game between the Kankakee Kays and the Rich Township Raptors didn't end well, with the Kankakee Kays falling 79-62. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Kays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-65 back in January.

Rich Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Al Brooks led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most points Brooks has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jamson Coulter, who went 6 for 14 en route to 21 points.

Kankakee's defeat dropped their record down to 22-4. As for Rich Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Kankakee will take on Richwoods at 3:30 p.m. on February 15th. As for Rich Township, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-63 victory against Hillcrest on the 8th.
