Softball Recap: Southwick Regional Has No Trouble Against Chicopee Comp

Southwick Regional made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Chicopee Comp, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rams were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Colts on Tuesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by eight runs or more this season.

Anna Novak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Southwick Regional got a massive performance out of Alyssa Bohn, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Brooke Comee was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Southwick Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Southwick Regional's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Chicopee Comp, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Southwick Regional will challenge Smith Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chicopee Comp, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ludlow at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
