Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield East Bengals vs. Romeoville Spartans

Plainfield East and Romeoville are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Plainfield East Bengals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Romeoville Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Romeoville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Plainfield East, who comes in off a win.

Plainfield East will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Joliet West, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Plainfield East snuck past Joliet West with a 54-49 win on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bengals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Romeoville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 73-36 loss at the hands of Marist. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the RedHawks are ranked 67th).

Romeoville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Plainfield East, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-8.

Plainfield East came up short against Romeoville in their previous matchup back in February, falling 66-53. Can Plainfield East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
