Soccer Game Preview: Jones County vs. Upson-Lee

The Jones County Greyhounds will head out to take on the Upson-Lee Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jones County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten goals back in March, they were much more limited against Ola two weeks ago. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Mustangs who were credited with the win. Ola got it done in the shootout by posting two goals to Jones County's zero. Jones County's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Upson-Lee will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Jasper County on Friday. The Knights never let the Hurricanes get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Considering Upson-Lee's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Reese Streetman and Kinsley Lonecke scored all four of Upson-Lee's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Upson-Lee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Jones County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.

Jones County came out on top in a nail-biter against Upson-Lee when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
