Baseball Game Preview: Summit Hilltoppers vs. New Providence Pioneers

Summit is 8-2 against New Providence since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hilltoppers will take on the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m.

Oratory Prep hit Summit with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hilltoppers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams.

Gavin Schnall was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, New Providence had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Dayton 8-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Pioneers have posted against the Bulldogs since June 8, 2021.

Summit's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for New Providence, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.

Summit skirted past New Providence 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
