Baseball Recap: Grayslake North Takes a Loss

Grayslake North extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-20 in the process. They lost 13-2 to the Johnsburg Skyhawks. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Skyhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Johnsburg, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

For Johnsburg's part, Nate Frost looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, Frost posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Riley Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Dom Vallone was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grayslake North will take on Antioch at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sequoits' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Johnsburg, they will head out on the road to take on Marian Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hurricanes will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
