Basketball Game Preview: Ridgemont Golden Gophers vs. Upper Scioto Valley Rams

Ridgemont is 0-10 against Upper Scioto Valley since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Ridgemont Golden Gophers will head out to face off against the Upper Scioto Valley Rams at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Ridgemont took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 58-45 win over Temple Christian. Given the Golden Gophers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Pioneers are ranked 573rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Upper Scioto Valley humbled North Baltimore with a 64-37 victory. That 27 point margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.

Ridgemont's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Ridgemont couldn't quite finish off Upper Scioto Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 46-44. Can Ridgemont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
