Volleyball Game Preview: Smyrna Eagles vs. Sussex Academy Seahawks

Smyrna is a perfect 3-0 against Sussex Academy since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will face off against the Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for Smyrna and 23 for Sussex Academy dating back to last season.

Smyrna is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Dover, who was ranked 14th at the time (Smyrna was ranked 25th). The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Senators on Friday.

Meanwhile, Sussex Academy came up short against Delmarva Christian on Friday, falling 3-0.

Smyrna's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Sussex Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything went Smyrna's way against Sussex Academy in their previous matchup back in March, as Smyrna made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
