Basketball Recap: Irvington Vikings vs. Washington Huskies
Irvington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Washington Huskies, falling 80-45. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-70 back in January.
It was another big night for Esean Johnson, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 21 points and seven rebounds for Washington. Johnson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Gianni Clark was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 16 points and seven assists.
Irvington's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Washington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Irvington will challenge Moreau Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moreau Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Irvington likes a good challenge. As for Washington, they are taking a road trip to challenge Newark Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newark Memorial will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Washington surely won't give up without a fight.
